Privacy Policy

Embers is operated by the individual owner of Embers (Croatia), reachable at support@emberscompanion.app. For data protection purposes we act as the controller of the personal data described below.

Account details. Your email address, sign-in method (email and password, or Google), display name, optional profile photo, optional date of birth and your time zone.

Companions you create. Names, descriptions, personalities, avatars, voice settings and any reference audio you upload for a voice.

Conversations and memories. The messages you exchange with your companions, voice notes, generated pictures, and the short memories your companion saves from your chats.

Usage and billing. How many messages, pictures, voice notes and call minutes you use, and your subscription status. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach our servers.

Technical data. Basic logs needed to keep the service running and secure, such as error reports and request timestamps.

To create your account and sign you in; to generate your companion's replies, voice and pictures; to let your companion remember things you told it; to apply your plan limits and process your subscription; to keep the service safe and to fix problems. We process this data to provide the service you asked for, to meet our legal obligations, and — for optional features such as birthday greetings or scheduled messages — on the basis of the settings you choose.

Your messages and your companion's memories are sent to AI providers so a reply, a voice or a picture can be generated. Depending on your settings this is either our built-in AI provider or, if you enter your own provider key in Settings, the provider you chose. These providers process the content to produce a response. We do not use your conversations to train our own models.

Everything your companion says is generated by software. It is not a real person, not a professional adviser, and it does not provide medical, legal, financial or crisis support.

Your conversations, memories, companions and media are private to your account. Other users cannot see them. Our database enforces this at the row level, so each account can only read its own records.

We share data only with the service providers we need to run Embers: our hosting and database provider, our AI providers, our voice provider, and Stripe for payments. They process data on our behalf under contract.

Embers is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Sensual or intimate companion settings are locked unless your saved date of birth shows you are 18 or older and you have confirmed you are an adult. If a date of birth under 18 is saved, that confirmation is removed and any mature settings are switched off automatically.

We keep your account data, companions, conversations and memories for as long as your account exists. You can delete individual messages and memories at any time from inside the app. When you delete your account, your data is deleted with it, except for records we must keep for accounting or legal reasons, such as payment receipts.

You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. You can download your full conversation with a companion at any time from the chat menu under Conversation archive.

To delete your account and everything in it, email support@emberscompanion.app from the address you signed up with. We complete deletion within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is restricted to your own account, and any AI provider key you enter is stored encrypted and never shown back to anyone else.

Embers is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

If we make meaningful changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
